These are the budget guesthouses around Jung-gu area as per KNTO which are much closer to Myeongdong compared to Jongno-gu area. 

Rate may vary during peak season, so check the rate carefully before booking.

I compared how far each guesthouses via subway from Myeongdong Station (the place that I like ^^) so you may get the rough idea of the location. 

Note:  900 won if you use T-Money pass otherwise the basic fee is 1000 won for subway.

Bangrang Hostel

Choongjungno to Myeongdong: 20 minutes, 7 stations, 6.9 km, 900 won, Transfer to blue line 4 at Dongdaemun Stadium Station

Note: It would be fine if you love to shop at Dongdaemun but a bit far from the other tourist spots.

Hoehyeon Station, Line 4, Exit 4 

Hoehyeon to Myeongdong: 1 minutes, 1 station, 0.3 km, 900 won, No transfer

Note: Hoehyeon Station is where Namdaemun located and Myeongdong is just in front of Namdaemun. No sweat at all. ^^ This place is hotcake. According to my friends who have stayed there, they fell in love with the guesthouse at first sight!

Note: My favourite!I have stayed here and it is situated right below the Namsan cable car station. Myeongdong is just 5 to 10 minutes walk down the hill. My friends and I went to Myeongdong every single night when we were there.

Note: This guesthouse is a stone throw away from Chandeok Palace. That's how near it is to that beautiful palace and from the guesthouse you can reach Insadong by walking in 5 minutes! However, you have to walk a bit far from Anguk Station.

Note: The guesthouse is situated around the Daehangno streets (universities) area. The place is very lively and food is pretty cheap around there because of the students. I love the host and her friends. They are very warm and sometimes her friends will perform reggae music!! ^^

King Sejong Tomb

I went to King Sejong's Tomb courtesy of the always gracious Mi Hyeon and her husband. Thank you so much!! It is located in Yeoju.

After that, we visited the ceramic exhibition

Unfortunately the exhibition is closed because
we arrived after 5PM

We went to toyaseum instead where all the ceramics collection
from various countries are displayed.

After that, we moved over to watch a concert in the nearby
stadium. The concert marked the end of the ceramic exhibition.
It was hosted by the local radio program, CBS.

Davichi belted their songs powerfully. So awesome!

●From Seoul to Yeoju:

From Dong Seoul Express Bus Terminal (Subway Line 2, Gangbyeon Station), take a bus to Yeoju (it takes 1.5 hours, first bus at 06:30, last bus at 21:40), buses run every 30 to 60 minutes, fare 4,900 won.

●From Yeoju to Yeongneung:

There are three direct buses a day from Yeoju Bus Terminal to Yeongneung (영릉.세종대왕릉) (bus #52-2 at 09:30 / #52-6 at 13:00 / #54-2 at 14:50). You can take these buses from the “Buy the Way” convenience store next to Yeoju Bus Terminal.
