Tips for Choosing a Hostel

For those of you who already walks cheap (backpacking) abroad, perhaps the hostel has become a familiar haven.

Hostel is a good option in between free stay at a friend / brother and hotels are relatively expensive. Besides the price fits in the pocket, some hostels are also very flexible in booking and facilities are sometimes no less with two or three star hotel.

With online reservations, book a bed at the hostel be easy. When the friends you suddenly can not host, or when you want only 24-hour layover somewhere, so the hostel reserves the right plan.

After all, with this convenience comes some considerations that remain if not observed would backfire for yourself. What are the things that must be observed when ordering hostel?
Location

More than anything, the location is very important. First, learn first means of transportation you will use when it arrived in a city. Is the location of the hostel can be easily reached by bus, train, taxi or even close to the airport?

The location is too far away, in foreign-speaking country, would complicate and add costs. Not to mention if you are more berkelling in the city center, for example, but the remote location of the hostel on the outskirts. Location also determines the security. Check the history of the region / district where the hostel is located.

Facilities

Learn what facilities are offered at a hostel. Do not until you pay expensive but facilities are not complete as the cheaper hostels. A good hostel has: (a) website (better if there are reservations online) that contains price information and photo gallery; (b) means good security such as safes and electronic keys; (c) free wireless Internet connection to rooms, because it is important for travel information, reservations and further communication with the outside world.

Extra facilities such as washing machine / washing clothes or breakfast can also be an added value. Oh yes, try to check also the provision of bed sheets because some hostels recommend you bring your own linens. Do not until you add the cost to rent sheets and pillowcases!
Payment

Online reservation is divided into two: the reservation deposit / full of credit cards and reservations in writing via email without payment in advance. Decide which one is most comfortable for you. There are times when the reservation deposit (usually only about $ 1-2) became the most convenient because there are ties.

Reservation with full payment is only made to a place that you truly believe or have ever visited. Email reservation without payment can be a little risky because there is no certainty, but note the tone and professionalism of the hostel. Keep proof of your reservation to be printed in order to manufacture and when in the immigration visa if necessary.

Ask the hostel what happens when you cancel a reservation for one reason or another. Whether they will return all funds that you have to pay? Or there are other provisions such as cancellations made at least 24 hours before arrival? Do not get lost!
Price

Cheapest price is usually for a class dormitories with bunk beds. In one room, there are usually four to a dozen beds - male and female mixed. The highest prices paid, of course, if any, are the rooms inhabited by one person. Bathrooms are usually shared. If you are traveling alone, so the ideal dorm so cheap. If you go with more than four people, you can rent a room.

After considering all, enjoy your experience at the hostel, which became a meeting place for the traveler with a variety of interests. Use this opportunity to mingle, but still respect. A good hostel owners are usually also able to talk with the familiar. Who knows, you can get a good friend or a good offer for the next excursion.

Travels Cheap When Pregnant? No Problem!

By Olenka Priyadarsani. My husband and I love to walk around aka cheap backpacking. And when he learned I was pregnant, we decided to keep traveling - with a record of when health allows. Because after all, our priority fetal health.

Our first trip was not so much. We spent the Christmas holidays in Green Canyon and Batu Karas Beach, West Java. At that time I was pregnant three-four months. Driving a car for about five hours from Jakarta, we passed a pleasant journey.

The problem is coming because we lost about 20 km in the forest. No gas stations (no problem, because our car gasoline enough) and there are no public toilets (the bush was so way out).

I was not able to explore caves in the Green Canyon because there are very slippery rocks. But we are quite satisfied with the fresh air, beautiful scenery, and seafood are tempting.

Week ahead, New Year holidays, we also did not go far, just to Ciater (West Java). My husband and our baby and garden to enjoy the fresh tea, milk and bananas bandrek grilled cheese.

In early January 2011, then we traveled the farthest: India. We are left only with a backpack on the back of each. We flew two hours to Kuala Lumpur, and then proceeded to fly five hours to New Delhi.

Although many people advised me to postpone the trip (my uterus was 4.5 months and India are not known for its clean), we remain firmly off because the doctor said that I was healthy.

Peak winter in India, with temperatures between 4-15 ° C, we are having with winter jackets, socks, and balaclava (hats skullcaps).

This time we, out of habit, book a hotel in advance. Luckily our hotel is very clean though Paharganj is located in low-cost travelers (backpackers). Indeed according to unwind after a struggle with a dirty and shabby Delhi.

The journey from Delhi to Agra is quite tiring. Train journey that should only take 2 hours, stretched up to seven hours due to thick fog. But the trip was not in vain. We are very pleased to see the Taj Mahal, the world's heritage, magnificent stands. It was indescribable, could see a building proof of love with husband and baby - although still in the stomach.

The trip home was worse. The train should arrive at Agra Station at 20:30 the night turned out to newly arrived at 06.00 am. As a result, we stay overnight in a rundown station, sitting on the floor lined with newspapers, piles with hundreds of other passengers. Though the air temperature around 4 ° C. Really thankful when the train finally came, although the journey back to Delhi to take seven hours.

The next three days we spent visiting the historical relics in the area of Purana Qila Delhi, Red Fort or Lal Qila, Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb and India Gate.

Overall we are very pleased with the trip to India. Once in Indonesia, we immediately checked the content to the doctor (faster than a monthly schedule control). And the brother is fine. Stay healthy and start kicking with excitement. Apparently he had wanted to walk again!

We actually have a plan to cross overland from Thailand to Cambodia but the situation is heating up between the two countries forced us to cancel it. We also divert holiday to Phuket, when the content was seven months.

Phuket was a wonderful experience. In addition to the famous beach, we also visited the small beaches such as Yes Nui (not far from Cape Promthep) and Diamond Beach are rocky north Kalim Beach. With motorcycles, we also went to the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Cape Promthep Cape, but also follow a day trip to Koh Phi Phi.

A few days after coming home from Phuket, we had the opportunity to fly to Kuala Lumpur. There we went to several places including the Petronas Twin Towers, Masjid Jamek, and of course shopping.

Currently my pregnancy was more than eight months, it's time to seek alternative tourism on the island of Java, so I do not need to air travel. When you buff the streets of cheap, do not worry, as long as you are healthy can still walk when pregnant!

Ways of walking during pregnancy

1. Check with the health of mothers and babies health previously and obtain a letter from your doctor. In anticipation, I asked for a letter from the doctor since the age of three months of pregnancy.
2. When traveling by plane, make sure you know the airline regulations about the pregnancy. Regulation is different. I always carry a printed proof of airline regulation in order to show if the workers are terrestrial doubt it.
3. If you are familiar with the style of the streets heavyweights cheap, do not force yourself during pregnancy. Choose the hotel is clean because pregnant women need adequate rest after a weary walk during the day.
4. Bring plenty of wet tissue and water.
5. Eating fruit in the course very helpful stamina pregnant women. Besides fruits also serve to overcome nausea when winding or bumpy roads. Prepare biscuits as well (except at the Taj Mahal because the officer did not allow visitors to bring food).
6. Still eating regularly.
7. Taking vitamins regularly.
8. If necessary, bring the foot sprays are usually available in stores, to prevent leg swelling due to too tired.

Halong Bay sail the Romantic and Mysterious

By Olenka Priyadarsani. Romantic and mysterious. That's two words in my mind when thinking about Halong Bay in Vietnam. Line of karst rocks combined with the blue sea and the morning mist has not lifted to make the atmosphere was mysterious, almost mystical. And extraordinarily beautiful.

Halong Bay is a natural tourist attraction of the most famous in Vietnam. The word literally means Ha Long Bay "the bay where the dragon descent". According to legend, when Vietnam was at war with China, the dragon family down to earth and help the Vietnamese.

Located in the north, Halong Bay is bordered by the waters of China. This place is pretty cool with a subtropical climate. If you have the opportunity visit there, time to stay one night on junk boat or timber ship.

Views of Halong Bay. Photo credit: Olenka Priyadarsani

Tourists usually stay in Hanoi for later toured Halong Bay which is about 178 km, which can be reached within 3.5 hours by car. If you live in the Old Quarter around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, you will find a variety of tour operators.

Seleksilah, and see where the cheapest before you decide. Try to go to Ma May St. in the Old Quarter, where there are several tour operators that can be relied upon by a variety of tour options in accordance with the desires and your pocket.

I myself use the Indochina Sails. We depart from the Old Quarter at 08.00 local time with the bus. Besides my husband and I, the other tour participants are Westerners. Along the way, the tour guide explains about Vietnam in general, the history and of course tourism.

Before arriving at the dock, we passed the town of Halong is very different from my imagination about the city on the shores of the bay. The city is looking not so crowded, but everywhere looks high-rise buildings are not finished. The soil tends to dry, his city was not tidy.

On the pier, each ship has its own foyer. Shortly before noon, we were preparing to board the ship, escorted a small lifeboat. When it arrived in our room was spellbound. Timber ship that has facilities that are not inferior to a five star hotel. After all the passengers go up, the ship began to sail.

Shortly after sailing, we began to enjoy the beauty of karst islands in a sea of blue-green and bright blue sky. Many tourists choose to bask in the top deck. Afternoon was concluded with a delicious meal.

After that, the ship went to Titop, an island which is part of UNESCO world heritage national park. In Titop, tourists can climb the stairs up to the top of the hill (approximately 15 minutes) and watch the scenery of Halong Bay. Thousands lined the mist shrouded karst islands in the middle of the ocean blue.

The journey continues to the Bat Cave. Here, tourists can enjoy kayaking adventure ride into the cave, or visit the floating villages around the place.

Floating village in Halong Bay is much nicer than I've ever seen in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Thailand, or Cambodia. Here the villages are more natural, and far from land. In addition, the village is also equipped with schools, health centers such clinics, and shops. Children younger than five years had been accustomed to using their own boat.

By evening, no less beautiful scenery. From the ship looks sunset. Golden tinge in contrast with the atmosphere surrounding the dominant color of blue. At times like this, Halong Bay was mysterious.

The first day was concluded with throw nets in the region Luon Bo. We also enjoy the seafood as much. Crabs, fish, squid, mussels are all burned and ready to eat.

After the morning came, lifted the anchor and the ship continued on to Surprise Cave, a small fishing village. We came down to enjoy this place.

By noon, the ship sailed back to shore. When noon came, we arrived at Bai Chai or Halong Pier.
Choosing a tour Halong Bay

There are many operators who provide tours of Halong Bay. If you have the time in Hanoi, you can gather information with a visit from one operator to another. If not, you can order directly via the Internet at higher prices. But not to worry, if not the holiday season, chances are you got a promotional price.

Choose the tour that you see fit, and more importantly with the funds you have. Tour operators will offer packages ranging from a full day without a stay, two days to four days. Usually the day of the 3rd and 4th will be filled with a kayak tour to Halong Bay areas more remote.

Account the funds you have for staying in the timber ship is certainly more expensive than the hotel. Halong Bay package prices vary between $ 25 to $ 250.

My advice is to spend at least one night in the wooden boat, having to sleep on the boat in the middle of the mysterious Halong Bay is an unforgettable experience. If you have more time, you can take a longer package. What is important, lest you run out of time to mengelililingi Hanoi city which is also very beautiful!

Tips Select Hotel When Traveling

Tips Select Hotel When Traveling

How do you choose a hotel on the go? The important thing is cheap? Never underestimate your place of rest the night, especially during a holiday or business trip. Here are some tips to consider when choosing and staying at the hotel.

Power of choice

Choose the right hotel is half the battle. Many people only need a few minutes to observe the hotel room, benchmark often only the most affordable price. Although price is a general consideration, remember that all the hotels want a full room and the hotel manager will struggle to meet its rooms every night. So, do not get trapped.

For best results, book rooms in advance through a travel agent and try to be flexible with schedules. Hotel is the target market of business usually have cheaper rates on weekends which they consider as the off season.

Contact a travel agency, bureau like that can understand the needs and expectations. They can choose the best hotels based on service and comfort that is available, as well as proximity to urban centers, airports, restaurants and various entertainment venues.

Reservation

Although online ticket booking already is an option, are still advised to book through a travel agency. If you choose to contact the hotel directly, but can also be prepared with additional costs for telephone costs. Many hotels have toll-free number to call. If no such number, and you must call the hotel directly, you should phone the afternoon or evening because morning is the busiest time is when the guests check out.

Once the room is available, document all information about hotel and travel plans to be abandoned to a friend or neighbor in case of emergency.

If you've booked a hotel room through a travel agency, make a copy of the confirmation of the reservation that they give to you, which made it clear information about the hotel and arrival date and the date you quit. Bring information about the confirmation of reservation or print out the e-mail when you check-in. Hotels may not knowingly enter false information on reservations or not true, then it is very wise if you take all the files on the reservation just in case.

Delay

There's nothing worse than driving all day and arrived at the hotel only to find your reservation has been charred or not there is room available. The key to never experience anything like this is knowing how long tolerance to delay. Most hotels will hold your reservation network to normal until six o'clock. For those who arrived more nights will be asked to guarantee the reservation by providing credit card numbers. With the guarantee you will be safe, even for those who arrived after midnight, keep warm bed awaits. Hotel reserves the right to cancel reservations that are not guaranteed. If you are late, call the hotel and ask them to hold your reservation until you arrive.

There is no room

Although not get a room because of over-booking or error in the reservation, do not panic and lose the spirit. Many hotels will help solve that problem by making a bid to stay in the hotel which is still in an adjacent network. If your reservation is guaranteed charred, make sure that the quality of new hotel rooms in the same or better, and you are not charged additional fees. Hotels also have to bear the costs of transport you there. If these things are not covered, ask to speak with the manager or contact a travel agent to ask for help.

Smiling customer service

As a valuable customer, your satisfaction is very important. The hotel staff have been trained to work from time to time to meet your needs. But the problem may be present, such as bad neighboring rooms (not cooperate). So, look for clear to the hierarchy of customer service at the hotel to get a quick solution. Calls to the travel agency is always a good first step, so that they can talk with the hotel and find a way out of every problem. Although limited to advocacy and advice, travel agents can usually defuse many difficult situations that can satisfy you and the hotel.

At the hotel, front desk staff is trained to deal with problems without involving the manager. So, tell your problem clearly and let them handle it. From toothbrushes are forgotten until the relocation of the rooms, the font desk officer will offer a fast and direct assistance. If your complaint outside of their coverage, ask politely to see the manager. The managers better understand the importance of customer loyalty and has the authority to offer discounts to guests at that time or for the future. If nothing can be done by managers, contact the customer service department. For that, make sure you write the correct name of the person with whom you spoke, the date of stay, cost and problems faced.

Check in

The only matter when the check is supposed to be only when the counter. With the reservations already made, the hotel wants you to occupy the room immediately. If all information has been confirmed, ensure that the prices given are the actual costs. Ask the usual check in time and ask questions about the specifics of the area and the services provided. Ask your hotel's business card to watch if you get lost.

The things that you might need

The things that needed depends on your needs, ask if the hotel offers or provides the following:
Services laundry or ironing board and iron in the room
Hairdryer
Voltage converters
Coffee maker, refrigerator or kitchen in the room equipment
Breakfast
Access to a fax machine, photocopy or printer, Internet
Mini bar
Safe deposit box in room (in-room safe)
Cable tv, movies or video games
Recreational Facilities
Telephone access to the outside
Adequate parking
Fasitas shuttle to the airport or to other places
Baby cot or bed roll

Sleep well - how to stay safe

Security is a priority for you and the hotel. Once entering the hotel area, be careful and cautious. If you bring a car, park in the daylight, near the entrance to your room, lock all doors and keep valuables in the trunk and not visible. If given a choice, ask for a room with a corridor in the driveway. When the receptionist ask the guards to write your room number so no one can hear it and keep your room key as soon as possible if there is room number printed on it.

Once in his room, lock the door with a lock and chain lock and find out an explanation of the emergency exit which usually is behind the door. Do not open the door for anyone even if you're waiting for a friend or room service, unless you know the person's voice, but also through the peep hole.

Check out

Once completed stay, check out properly is an enjoyable experience along there are no surprises, like the goods left behind or extra charges. Check the room thoroughly before exiting, including the drawers, closets, and bathrooms especially behind the shower curtain and the rear door of the bathroom.

Many hotels specify at check out varies between the hours of 11:00 to 14:00. If you need additional time request at the beginning or you will incur an additional cost of one night. Check the bill to ensure all costs accurately, and you receive a reasonable discount. When making a transaction. receipt requested.

Tips

Each city or region or country has a different culture or habit of giving tips, as well as with the tip. In America for example, a tip for the doorman who stopped a taxi reach 1-2 dollars, the figure so much greater if the doormen stopped the cab in bad weather. Well just mentioned who needs to be given a tip. In addition to tip doormen need to be given is the housekeeping staff, room service, bellhop or porter, valet parking, and daycare staff (concierge).

Packing tips when traveling

Packing tips when traveling

There are two types of people traveling in this world: those who by nature are few and their luggage can be a little hope. Which category are you? For all the items required for travel into the bag but the bag still feels light and compact look, follow the following guidelines.

Make a Plan and Plan That Hold On

As an architect who built the building, as well as people plan the contents of the suitcase. Make a list of luggage. List of goods to prevent panic in the last minute packing, serves as a guide when packing again at the end of the journey, and useful in unfavorable conditions such as loss or theft of baggage.

When planning any clothing that would be taken, consider the events you want to follow, day or night, and record equipment (clothing) that may be suitable for every occasion. Double-check the list to determine if a piece of clothing can be worn for all occasions. Bring clothes that can be combined with others, based on the suitability of color.

Check the weather forecast in the goal area and make plans based on these forecasts. Make sure you know the habits of local communities, such as wearing a t-shirt for dinner could be a fatal mistake, or stump sleeves may be preventing you from entering into places like St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. For almost all outdoor activities, bring some clothes that can be worn layered.

Ignore the rules of wearing apparel in accordance with the event. Today's world is generally given leeway to the dress code - for the tourists there seemed to be a kind of tolerance. Dark color-black or blue clothing jacket lets you get into a variety of dinners and performances.

Pack or not pack? That is the question!

Once the list of clothing has been made, Guide on it. When packing, Arrange the items you want to take it and check back list. Make sure that the clothes are going to take it's clean and ready to be packed. Contact a travel agent about the availability of various hotel amenities, like a hair dryer, iron and board, soap, shampoo, etc., so you know what you do not need and which should be taken.

For jewelry principle is do not bring valuables if you do not want to lose the goods. Do not bring clothing that may attract thieves. Bring your makeup equipment sufficiently to save space, do not bring perfume if moisturizer is enough.

Special for beauty tools, travel kits are always the answer. Got a travel kit is always available in a waterproof box that will save you time to pack before the trip and a riot after the return. Most personal beauty tools for the benefit of travel is not expensive, so buy such equipment whenever you see so when they arrive at their destination, you are not confused because your favorite hair gel bottle is empty for example. Do not fill the bottle to the brim because the air pressure in aircraft cabins may cause the bottle to be stuffed and overflowing.

Every item that you want to bring, visualize how to make it smaller, like make a copy of a page or a specific map from a guidebook instead of bringing the book completely. Get used to live efficiently. Bring only one bottle of moisturizer for a variety of needs rather than take a lot of bottles of moisturizer to hands, feet and face. Bring a regular toothbrush or razor from the electrical model.

Film and various accessories can be purchased anywhere and are usually easy to obtain, so frugal luggage space by leaving things like that at home. Create a little adventure on the way to find local goods shopping for deodorant and moisturizer.

As an incidental event, a number of items would be necessary. Essential items required include P3K tools, cans containing aspirin, and anti-sun moisturizer, and a special dryer indoors if necessary. Swiss knife will be very helpful, both for peeling fruit or even open a bottle. Remember, swiss knives are not permitted to enter the plane, so pack the knife in checked baggage

Once you complete travel kit, make sure it is packed in a bag that you always take it and make sure it's all in your hands during flight.

Art pack

Now you know what was taken, start packing. Iron all clothes before inserted into the bag. If everything neat and clean, chances are it will keep clothes neat and clean when it will be issued. Button all buttons and close all zippers.

Learn to fold. Fold like a man in clothes shops-they use that method for a reason. The better the fold, the fewer the tangles on the shirt. All clothing can be folded in various ways, t-shirts, jeans, shirts and sports clothes can be rolled and placed in a backpack or travel pack.

Methods interlock (interlock) in folding clothes is ideal for storage in a suitcase. Stack two pieces of clothes evenly and then fold one into the other so that one protects the other in order not crumpled. Put the tissue paper in between layers of clothing will also help prevent wrinkled clothes.

If using a method of folding and stacking, Arrange in chronological order, place the clothing was first worn in the top position. This will prevent the contents of suitcases laid waste to search for a specific outfit you want to use. Pack it with tight or tight. Loose packing leaves room really useful and can lead to crumpled clothing. Avoid any empty space, like in the shoe. The inside of the shoe is perfect for socks or underwear.

Always carry travel documents, medicines, jewelry, traveler's checks, keys and other items in tote bag (a bag that is always attached to you). Such items should never be included in the trunk.

Label each suitcase, on the inside and outside, with name and your phone number, but do not write your home address. If the address is required, specify only the address of the office.

Remove or check the contents of the bag as soon as you arrive at the hotel in order to prevent clothes crumpled added. When you want to come home, remember that the clothes were wrinkled and dirty needs a lot of places. So, check when folding laundry, pack your stuff just like when you first leave home.

Sunset taken from a chart on the offshore island of sackcloth, the Islands District Great River, Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan. The view off to the west is a pemandnagan toward the South China Sea, which is paved fishing platforms. Ecotourism tourists seemed to enjoy the sunset exotica.

WHEN the tourists roam up to the outposts of the world, they are faced with the responsibility to protect the fragile environment they visit. The idea of traveling responsibly is what is called ecotourism: travel by maintaining awareness of environmental and cultural wealth dikujungi place. The rejection of the idea of environmentally friendly tourism, the same as letting nature destroyed uncontrollably.

Appreciate a Fragile Planet

Apparently, the planet feels solid beneath our feet and can protect themselves from large planets in the solar system. Lo-surface of the earth's terrestrial ecosystems where we are-is a fragile infrastructure that depends on maintaining a balanced and sustainable.

Imagine the earth as if it had hair. Now look great but the more we exploit an uncontrollable, the earth will be more chaotic, until one day the planet is really bald. If we do not also seek protection, the unique and beautiful destination, for whom we buy expensive camera to be photographed, probably just is not there for future generations.

Leave Only Footprints

Simply take a picture or photograph, and leave only footprints. Two simple phrase is formulated briefly and solid core ecotourism. Do not leave any garbage, and do not take souvenirs from historical sites and natural. Carried to its extreme, take the splinter from Borobudur temple alone is a crime.

In the wild as much as possible should never interfere with anything. Let the beautiful stones in place; desk or shelf you will not ketambahan unnecessary burden. The notion that "it is only a stone" would be a problem when a million people each took a stone from the same forest.

Follow the trail

Running the basic rules of ecotourism as easy as following in the footsteps that have been marked, because the trail was to be followed. Always follow a predetermined path and do not be tempted to explore the forest.

Do not disturb animals, plants or natural habitat of the creatures, and hopefully they do not bother you. When we were kids, we ordered a thousand times for not tapping on the aquarium glass, so think about every majesty of nature as a special aquarium.

Education darling If underrated

Extend the reach of your insight and educates yourself with the things about the geography, customs and way of local society who want to visit. You may not believe it, but at least respect their beliefs while still storing your camera in the bag. Respect the land is also the local community by always asking permission before you enter the building, temple or shrine. Showing respect will make you gain the trust of local people who very valuable.

As an eco-tourist who cares, do not ever buy products made from endangered plants or animals, such as ivory, tortoiseshell, leather, and fur. Buy souvenirs from local artists to maintain the continuity of tradition and local culture.

Share this idea and eat in the dining-owned by local residents to explore the gastronomic world is as important as visiting the main visit is very popular with tourists. Choose inns, hotels, and local guides. Also use taxis, buses and local car rental agency.

Environmental Organization Supports

Action ecological rescue of the most easy thing to do is to support conservation-oriented organization, which works to protect the environment. Choose the tour operators and guides are responsible, that its policies based on ecological awareness.

Jakarta is a tropical city, which should call for some precautions for newcomers. Bottled water, of which there are many quality brands, is highly recommended. Water from tap, even in the best of hotels, should not be use for drinking unless it is boiled for several minutes. Ice in drinks should not be a concern, because ice vendors in Jakarta operate under strict government guidelines. With hot tropical temperatures, sufficient liquid intake is extremely important to maintain good body balance. Care should be taken to avoid sunburn and exhaustion from too much exposure. Unless one is a "seasoned" traveler, it is best to eat at hotels or well-established restaurants. Traditional food stalls (warung) and street carts (kaki lima) are fun to experience, but should be avoided for those visiting the city for only a short time. International health certificates for smallpox, cholera and yellow fever are not required, except when arriving from infected areas.

Weather

Located in the tropical zone, Jakarta’s climate is hot and humid. The average temperatures range from 26ºCelcius at night and early morning to up to 30ºCelcius at noon. However, Bahasa Indonesia in this city is heavily influenced by the dialect of Jakarta’s previously dominant ethnic group, Betawi. With rapid urbanization process in the city, the Betawi people have been pushed to Jakarta’s suburban areas.
