If you are looking for a metro station on the street you should look for the this sign of Tokyo Metro company.

Metro Lines and stations:
All the metro lines in Tokyo are color marked as in Tokyo Metro Map, so then you go down to the station you will see this signs of the line (can be recognized by the line color and the first litter of the line name) and the number of the station you are in.

Because all the stations in Tokyo Metro are numbered it is easy to find out what platform you need – the numbers of the stations the train is going can be seen next to platform number.
Some stations have a chart of the line above the entrance to the platforms-just look for the station you need on the chart relevantly present station.

Here you can see a chart on station number 3 (Meiji-jingumae) on the Chioda Line - if you need to get to stations 1-2 you should go to the planforn on the left side, but if you need to get to stations 4-20 you should go to the platform on the right.
