Taking a ski holiday can be one of the most fun get away trips you can take, you just have to make sure that you are fully prepared for your getaway. There are several things that you are more than likely going to need on any ski holiday and ways that you can organize your ski holiday to make sure you have as much fun as possible.
Steps To Making Your Ski Holiday The Best It Can Be
The first thing you need to do before planning of your ski holiday can even really begin is to plan how much you want to spend. You can go on a cheap ski holiday, or you can go on a great ski holiday for very little money, the choice is up to you.
Once you have a budget then you need to start looking for places to go. I recommend finding areas within driving distance if you are looking for something a little less expensive. The reason for this is that the travel cost is less and when you get there you will have your own vehicle. This opens up a lot of different options as far as lodging is concerned. In addition you can get supplies quickly and easily if you need to.
The first thing you will need to do is plan out your meals. Often times people will plan to wing it when going away on a ski vacation. First off this is very expensive, secondly it can cause some serious problems on the trip. One thing you need to remember is that while skiing is a lot of fun it is also a physical activity and for this you will need fuel. If your meals are properly planned you will have a lot more fun.
I would make a list that includes high calorie but not heavy breakfasts. Pancakes, eggs, and some lighter meats like ham and turkey sausage are perfect. Juice is also a must have, so plan to bring a couple gallons of OJ, plus you can use it later if you need to.
For dinners I would plan on doing something hot that can be prepared quickly, or better yet be ready for when you come off the hill. Crock pot meals work great for this, chili and stew are perfect. For either of these just be sure to include a nice starchy base as well. Rice works well with chili and biscuits work perfect in stews. Pasta is also a great meal after a long day on the hill. One of the best things I have found to do is to make a lasagna ahead of time, freeze it and bring it with you. Just reheat in the over and you are ready to go. You can do this with Ziti as well. A simple spaghetti and meat balls meal is a staple of and ski holiday.
Well hopefully you now have a better idea of what supplies you will need for your ski holiday. The key is to be prepared and pack correctly.
