1. Where is Ang Thong National Marine Park ?
Ang Thong National Marine Park lays to the west up to the north west of Samui about 31 Km.

2. How to get there ?
Contact the local agency at Nathon pier of Bo Phut pier of Koh Samui to buy the boat ticket for daytrip. The boat drop you off at Wua Talab island first and then the others island e.g. Mae Ko island.

3. When to go ?
Feb – May is recommended. Nov – Dec should be avoid because of the Northeast monsoon.

4.Is it possible to overnight on "Ang Thong Marine Park"
Yes, the visitors can stay at Wua Talab Island, the headquater of the
National Park, only. There are many type of bungalows/tents for rent.

5. Are there small resorts ?
Not at all. Only bungalows/tents available at Wua Talab Island. The tourist have to book in advance for 2 months at http://www.dnp.go.th (an offical site of the National Park)

6. Is there a park Entrance Fee?
Yes, THB 200 for adult and THB 100 for children

7. Place of Interest ?
Wua Talab Island : the bigest island with several viewpoints.
Mae Ko island : famous "Talay Nai" or inner sea.
Sam Sao island : kayaking through the stony arch.

8. Are there One Day Trip available ?
Yes, please contact the agency at Nathon pier or visiting their websites in advance for more information e.g. www.seatrandiscovery.com .

9. Dive sites around the Ang Thong National Marine Park
The Dive sites are the most northern point. Koh Wao and Hin Nippon (Japanese Rock) offer excellent diving with an abundance of marine life and swim throughs.

Lom Praya ferry : Connecting Koh Samui – Koh Tao

My visitor from UK, who visited justSamui.com, asked me about Lom Praya ferry from Koh Samui to Koh Tao. He starts from Koh Samui Airport. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Koh Samui Ferry Service by Lom Praya. Umm.. let’s introduce this ferry service first.

What is Lom Praya ?

Lom Praya ferry is a hi speed catamaran run between Chumphon – Koh Tao – Koh Samui and return. It takes 1 hour and a half between Chumphon - Koh Tao and Koh Tao – Koh Samui as well.

To clarify my visit, I will focus on transportation from Koh Samui to Koh Tao.

Time Table :

There are 2 times a day ferry service from Koh Samui, 08:00 am. And 12:00 am. It takes 1 hours and a half to Koh Tao.

How to book :

You can book ticket in advance by phone or at their Lomprayah website , advise your flight number and ask for their pick up service. They will pick you up at the airport. Alternatively, you can take a local taxi service to the pier but it is more expensive.

Ticket Rate :

THB 550 per one way plus THB 30 for pick up service from the airport.

At Koh Tao :
If you want to return to Koh Samui : contact their office at Mae Had pier.
