858million allocation for Visit Malaysia program

TOURISM industry players have given the thumbs-up to the generous allocation of RM858mil to boost the industry. Many also expressed confidence that it would make Malaysia a major tourist destination. There was no doubt the Government was serious about improving the quality of tourism facilities and tourism products.

With upgraded facilities such as better information counters and public toilets, for example, we will definitely be able to attract more tourists. Budget 2011 will also promote tourism activities in Sabah and Sarawak. RM200mil was allocated under the Tourism Infrastructure Fund for this purpose would provide much needed leverage to promote tourist sites there. It will also help solve the shortage of hotels for the many visitors who come here every year.
