I will definite book a ticket to Gold Coast soon! May be early next year.. can't wait..

Awana Genting Highland Golf & Country Resort

As most of you all know, I am one of the top 5 in recent All Malaysian Bloggers' contest. Well, I have got mine prizes already. I went to Sunway Pyramid to pick it up. Thank you The Star! Thank you every one!

Since I'm going to stay there for 3 days 2 nights there, I might as well write about the hotel. Awana Genting Highlands is near to Kuala Lumpur. It is just an hour from KL. It is located on the way to Genting Theme park which is situated on the top to the peak. I have been there many times. I love the weather, much cooler than KL. Sometimes there are a lot of fog and difficult to see the road too.. It has a abundant greenery and lush panoramas. It is certainly a prefect short get away for most KLian especially during short weekend break.

These are some of the facilities and services available in the hotel:

Tennis, Football filed, Squash, Badminton, Heated pool, Snooker & pool, table tennis, driving range volley ball court, karaoke, archery, horse riding, 18-hole golf course etc..

WOW! There are a lot of things to do.. definitely want to test the horse riding, never been on a horse before. I heard it is a very good exercise, even our previous PM, Dr Mahathir choose horse riding as his favorite past time...

Ramadhan is back and so is the bazaars..

All Muslims in Malaysia will start fasting starting from tomorrow for whole 1 month. Ramadhan is the best month for me particularly because this is the month I'm close to God. Beside fasting, there are lots of other things that are really interesting during this month. One of them the famous Ramadhan bazaars. It is seen as a great time to feast.

The Ramadhan bazaar can best be described as a trend that became a culture. Long before the fast ends at sunset, hundreds of stalls selling various foods sprout throughout the country by roadsides, fields, market places and even malls. These stalls last only through the Ramadhan and are run by temporary operators. This phenomenon, which sweeps through every nook and corner of Malaysia, is regarded as one of the most exciting annual happenings. The reason Well, each visitor will have to visit the Ramadhan bazaar for him or herself to understand the fervor it sparks off.

The scene that greets one at a bazaar is nothing short of astounding. Food in all colors, forms and aromas stimulate the senses. From Malaysia's signature dishes to hard-to-find home recipes, all of these delectable treats their ways to the tabletops of the vendors. Hundreds of dishes from every state in Malaysia can be found in just one place. From the north, the piquant 'laksa,' rich 'nasi kandar,' 'nasi lemuni' and delicious 'pasembor' tempt buyers with the very sight. More rice variations like the 'nasi dagang,' 'nasi kerabu' and grilled items like 'ikan and ayam percik' as well as the rich soupy 'laksam' are a few contributions from the east coast states. The southern state of Johor offers its famed 'nasi biryani,' 'laksa Johor,' 'mee bandung' and 'soto'. Added to this list are colorful deserts and fresh tropical fruit juices that would soothe the parched throats of the fasting community.

A few of Kuala Lumpur's top bazaars can be found in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Jalan Raja Alang, Kampung Baru and Masjid India. Although every district in the capital is awash with bazaars, these particular ones seem to stretch endlessly, making it almost impossible to browse through the whole area, let alone savor the dishes. The already famous food capital of Penang gets even busier during this period. Visit the bazaars at Gelugor and Bayan Baru and see why Penang takes the crown for cuisine excellence. In Alor Setar, Kedah, the Darul Aman Stadium is another notable bazaar location. Over the east coast at Kota Bahru, the Parit Dalam bazaar offers a delightful feast as well. Here, the fare leans towards eastern and Thai specialties.

To all Muslims, Happy fasting!

How to avoid becoming a pickpocket victim?

Pickpocket occurs everywhere. It really dispute your holiday and I know this for fact since I was pickpocket before in Barcelona. It ruins all my plans, I lost my money and my credit cards. Luckily, I put my passport separately. So, this is some tips I gathered for travelers who are coming to Malaysia:

1. Never store your passport in a backpack or purse. Keep it on your person, preferably in the front pocket of your pants or an inside coat pocket. Passports are worth thousands of dollars on the black market, and they are your only source of identification when traveling in a foreign country.

2. Do not assume that everyone is trustworthy. It’s a sad fact, but many tourists each year are robbed because they were just too open and trusting. A bit of suspicion can go a long way. If someone you do not know walks up to you and tries to start an overly friendly conversation, beware. Talk, but be alert to your surroundings and personal belongings.

3. Don't leave your personal items unattended. Bring your purse, jacket, etc. with you when going to the restroom, a sales counter, etc. Do not expect the people around you to watch your stuff. Leaving your things at a restaurant table while you go to the restroom, for example, is just asking for someone to rob you.

4. Don't be easily distracted. Thieves often work in groups, and while one is asking you for directions, another may be stealing something from your bag.

5. Don’t be a walking target. Chatting on a cell phone or listening to music on an iPod while walking down the street or on the bus, for instance, is an invitation to pickpockets and thieves. Keep cameras and other expensive electronics out of sight - use them only when needed and keep them hidden when not in use.

6. When traveling by bus, keep your bags near you. Do not leave them in the compartment above your head or under the bus. Tourists are often robbed while they are sleeping. If you must sleep, keep your bags under your feet or on your lap. If traveling in a group, take turns napping.

7. Put expensive items, like iPods and digital cameras, in a hard-to-get place. Carry your wallet in your front pocket, and put your iPod or cell phone in an inside pocket of your backpack. Do not use the outer pockets of purses or backpacks, if possible.

8. Avoid heavily crowded areas. Pickpockets abound in areas where there are a lot of people and a lot of commotion. Take off expensive jewelry, including earrings and watches, if you enter a crowded area. Leave essentials, like ATM cards and passports, behind.

With a little extra caution, you can enjoy a worry-free, safe vacation.

Wetland Park - get close to nature

The largest man-made freshwater wetlands in the tropics, and the first of its kind in Malaysia, Taman Wetland comprises Wetland Park (138 hectares) along with several outlying wetland areas (197 hectares).

There are 24 wetland 'cells' in Taman Wetland and the main habitats are marshes, swamp forests and open water areas like ponds and lakes. Several species of local and exotic marshland birds spotted here include the Little Egret, Little Green Heron and Cinnamon Bittern.

Visitors can start by exploring the Wetland Park Visitors' Centre, which serves as the gateway to the wetlands area. It houses a Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC), an 80m-high look-out tower, which offers a bird's eye view of Putrajaya, two nature trails, a wetland plant nursery, a flamingo pond, picnic areas and other public amenities.

You can obtain information on the wetland plant bed filtration system, conservation of wetland habitats and the uses of wetland habitats and wetland products at the park.
