AirAsia to fly to Shenzhen, China from July 15

AirAsia will start daily flights to Shenzhen, China, from July 15 from Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.

The low-cost carrier announced yesterday that airfares would start from RM68.88 for flights from Kuala Lumpur and 388 baht (about RM38) from Bangkok.

Shenzhen is located in the southern part of Guangdong province and is the fastest growing city in China for the past 30 years.

It is famous for its coastal view, theme parks, historical attractions and world-class golf courses and is known as a shopping paradise.

This is part of the plan in making LCCT as the regional low cost airline hub for Asia region. With the anticipated London-KL route by Airasia X next year, the visitors from Europe can come via Kuala Lumpur and flight out to all top Asia destinations from LCCT. I certainly hope that this plan will work.

Firefly Airline received the green light

Soon, Firefly Airline will offer flight from Kuala Lumpur too. They are just received the green light to operate from Subang Airport, which is a lot closer to Kuala Lumpur compared to KLIA.

It is anticipated that Firefly will offer flight from KL to Ipoh or Malacca. It is a good new for our tourist who is planning to go for a day trip to Malacca or Ipoh from KL. The airport is just about 30 minutes from KL city centre. The only disadvantage to this arrangement is there will be no connecting flight if our tourists arrive at KLIA.

Firefly, which is a subsidiary of MAS, currently flies from Penang to Langkawi, Kota Baru, Kuala Terengganu and Kuantan as well as Phuket and Koh Samui in Thailand. It operates two 50-seater Fokker aircraft.

Policemen are now on bicycle!!

Police force in Penang has further enhance their team by deploying a team of policemen on bicycle. This team is placed strategically in top tourist areas such as Batu Feringghi, Gurney Drive etc... This effort is carry put to ensure better efficiency of police force at these areas in order to ensure safety and offers guidances to the tourists who stay around these areas.

With the bicycle, they would be able to cover an area in less time than on foot. Moreover, these bicycles can go into narrow lanes which are inaccessible to motorcycles and cars, and the public will find it easier to flag down a policeman on a bicycle for help. This method of bicycle patrols had proven to be successful in countries such as Australia and the United States.
