Dusit Zoo something for everyone

Having started its life as part of the Royal Dusit Garden Palace, much like a private garden to Rama V, today, the Dusit Zoo can be found on Rama V road which is within the same vicinity as the Parliament.

In the 1930's the gardens were converted into a zoological municipal garden and since the 1950's it has been under the care of the organization of the Zoological Park. This is the same organization that overlooks the up keep of the Chiang Mai and Chonburi zoos.
The zoo is spread out across 40 acres and a quarter of that land is covered in beautiful lakes that dot the landscape of the Dusit Zoo. The zoo offers tourists some unique features like all the world's gibbon species in one location. In addition, the zoo's bird island and variety of deer are a major crowd pleaser among those travelling with family.

The Dusit Zoo is perhaps the most popular zoo in Bangkok, because it was also the first zoo that Thailand established. The zoo has served as a shelter for over 1,000 odd species of animals for well over sixty years. The zoo is a completely functional park for animals and is equipped with its own hospital for the animals. This is in addition to the museum, a small educational centre where visitors could gather additional information on the species of animals on display.

Since the park is rather large for those on a limited time schedule it would be advisable to take a look at the map which gives an overall view of the zoo and then decide how the time could be spent. The zoo also offers a cafeteria and an activity area to keep even the youngest members of the family occupied.

For those who would just like to have a quick view of the sights that the zoo has to offer, could do so by hopping onto the tram that takes about 30 minutes to cover the whole zoo. If time is not a concern then a leisurely stroll would be sufficient a pace to cover the grounds of the zoo.

Visitors to Bangkok looking for a leisure stay over and considering options foraccommodation need look no further than one of the many Bangkok serviced apartments. One such as the Sathorn apartments would be an ideal option for those looking for flexibility and a location from which to explore the city. The Ascott Sathorn Bangkok offers facilities for both business and leisure travelers.
