Brand New Day - Kim Bo Kyoung

I heart Kim Bo Kyoung's voice!
She's the Superstar K2's dropout but
is the first to produce an album instead.
Mistook her voice for Gummy's
Thanks to happinesss2 for the lyric translation.

일어나기 싫은 아침엔

이불 속을 파고 들어봐도

can`t sleep

higher this time this time yeah

네 꿈이 이뤄지길 믿어

절망도 너를 막진 못해

다시 시작하면 돼

brand new day yeah brand new day

아침 일기예보도

때론 틀릴 때가 있잖아

우산 없을 때만 하염없이

비 가와 no

higher this time this time yeah

네 꿈이 이뤄지길 믿어

절망도 너를 막진 못해

다시 시작하면 돼

brand new day yeah it`s brand new day

higher this time this time

네 꿈이 이뤄지길 믿어

절망도 너를 막진 못해

다시 시작하면 돼

마음이 하는 말을 들어

힘껏 너의 꿈을 외쳐

하늘에 닿을 만큼

higher this time this time yeah

네 꿈이 하는 말을 들어

실패를 해도 상관 없어

이제 날아올라봐

brand new day yeah it`s brand new day

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

I just finished watching Korean drama 'My Girlfriend is a Gumiho' and my verdict: Two thumbs up!

What I like about 'My Girlfriend is a Gumiho' / 내 여친은 구미호?

  • The drama was superb at least for the first 10 episodes. Not many Korean dramas could sustain my interest till the end.
  • The hero is not that handsome (to my standard) as like other typical heroes in Korean drama. Hence, I think that it is almost similar to real life standard..Heheheh..no offence to Lee Seung Gi's fans.
  • The drama was written by the Hong sisters( Hong Jung Eun and  Hong Mi Ran ) who have written - You're beautiful, My Girl and Delightful Girl Chun Hyang. All these Korean dramas are my favourite!
  • Because it reminded me of Naruto - my cat or even the anime character Naruto who has a nine-tailed fox embedded into him.
  • The chemistry between Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah
  • Shin Min Ah was so gorgeous and cute!! (I rarely compliment other women's beauty and etc but she gets you deeper and deeper into the drama)
  • The villain...arghhhh..is he even human? He should remain as a goblin..^_^ How can a man be that pretty?!!
  • Even the side story; an ahjumma and ahjussi's love story was hilarious! *Check out the farting-in-the-elevator scene*

What's so interesting about Nine Tail fox?
As per WikipediaThe kumiho (literally "nine tailed fox") is a creature that appears in the oral tales and legends of Korea,[1], and are akin to European faeries. According to those tales, a fox that lives a thousand years turns into a kumiho, like its Japanese and Chinese counterparts (the kitsune and the huli jing).[2] It can freely transform, among other things, into a beautiful girl often set out to seduce men, and eat their liver. There are numerous tales in which the kumiho appears. Several of those can be found in the encyclopedic Compendium of Korean Oral Literature (한국 구비문학 대계).

The drama is also known as My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox.

Haru 2010 Drama Eng Sub : Part 1

Remember my post on 2010 Interactive campaign-Haru? This is the first installment of the mini drama to promote Korea Tourism by the Hallyu stars.

In the first installment:
Yunho (U-Know); one of  the defunct DBSK members, running on Gwanggalli bridge. This bridge is situated in Busan.

How to go to Busan:
Take a train from Seoul Station (subway line No.1, 4)
By KTX: 2hrs 40 mins.
By Saemaeul: 3hrs 40 mins.
By Mugunghwa: 5hrs 20mins.
First bus is at 05:25, Last bus is at 23:00, Intervals are between 5~10 mins. (Nambu bus terminal/Express bus terminal)

How to go to Gwangalli:
1. From Busan Station, take city bus No. 41, 42, 140, 239, 240, 139 and get off at Gwangalli Beach (runs
    frequently)
2. From Express Bus Terminal (Nopodong Station), take city bus No. 131, 131-1
3. From Busan Subway Station, Line 1 transfer at Seomyeon Station. Get off at Gwangan Station(subway
line no. 2, exit 3 or 5) and walk 5 minutes.

How to go to Haeundae
1. Subway - From exit 3 or 5 of Haeundae station (Busan Subway Line 2), walk 10 min toward the beach.
2. Bus - From Busan Station, take city express bus No. 302, 139, 140, 239, 240 in front of Samsung
Building and get off at Haeundae Beach(about 40 min).
3. Taxi - Takes 40 min from Busan Station.

2. From Subway: Take subway line No.2 and get off at Haeundae Station (Exit no.7)→ Take Bus No. 100,
100-1, 139, 142 → Get off at Songjeong Station and walk 600 meters.

Gwangalli v/s Haeundae v/s Songjeong Beach

Gwangalli Official Website
Gwangalli is the most beautiful - because of the beautiful bridge, at night it is a sight to behold. It is just next to a busy road, hence I feel it is not so private.

Check out my post on Gwangalli at night here and during day here .

Haeundae Official Website
Haeundae is more private - where the blockbuster movie was filmed, the hotels are just beside the beach and you can't see the main roads from the beach. Hence, you're blocked from the din. If you stay in any of the hotels along Haeundae beach you will get the feel of having your own private beach. Among the three, this is the most popular among the crowd, though I prefer Gwangalli because of the bridge.

Check out my post on Haeundae here.

Songjeong Official Website
Songjeong feels like home - a lot of small shops opened near the beaches, secluded and quite far from the busyness of city center. If you want to go to Yonggung-sa, you will pass this beach. I saw some university students having their MT here. I think it would be great for having family picnic at this beach.  ^^

Want to know what is MT? Check out the explanation by KoreanClass101 here.

2010 Interactive Campaign - Haru

하루 Haru - for a day in Korea
하루 하루 Haru Haru - day by day for Big Bang..hehe I have no problem with both Harus ^^

A special day of 10 Hallyu star In Korea.
Starring:
Kim Bum
Lee Da Hae
Kim Yoon Shik
Yunho U-KNOW
Han Chae Young
Big Bang

A short clip of Korea from a dramatic style angle; a jumble of IRIS, romance, happy go lucky...hmm..basically predictable Korean dramatic mood summed up.

After watching the blockbuster looked alike clip, my thought:  Lee Da Hae..was that her? She looked different! Kim Bum and Lee Da Hae for noona-dongsaeng relationship? Yunho part with the unnecessary heat seeking missile was ludicrous!! Who was Kim Yoon Shik? Han Chae Young should be Angelina Jolie the second. Both are bombshell anyway. I have no comment on my boys..Big Bang. They are just awesome!

Don't Visit Korea!

Just kidding..hehe. Mmm..you don't need to when you could see it all in Korean drama, right? ^^ Totally wrong!! You must visit Korea especially these gorgeous places which I will mention shortly!

If you are highly influenced and addicted to watching Korean drama, you won't miss the beautiful spots in Korea shown in the drama, will you? This is one of the reasons why so many people around the globe fell in love with Korea, apart from drooling over the gorgeous actors and actresses. You know what I mean, right? Hehehe. Back to my point here. ^^ The places are so unbelievably beautiful and people are warm (not to mention attractive). You couldn't imagine not being there appreciating the breathtaking beauty yourself! Just like me. ^^

I list out the famous Korean dramas with beautiful spots for you to marvel at later once you visit Korea. Hehehe.

1. Winter Sonata

Nami Island - I visited Nami Island early November when the weather was very harsh for my dear skin. T_T But it was all a worthwhile experience because autumn scenery was just superb. Check it out here.

Yongpyong Ski Resort - It is located in Gangwondo. However, I am not a Winter Sonata fan. Sorry to Yon-sama fans out there but soapy plot is not my cup of tea. So, I opted for Phoenix Ski Resorts as advised by my host in Jinbu. They have more adventurous slopes. Those who really love the drama, my advice; just visit the ski resort and relive the moments in the drama while you skiing down the slope. Hehehe.

Ski Resorts in Gangwondo's review is here and another blogger's review for Phoenix Ski Resort.

Daehangno - I met Chi Won near Daehangno, my couchsurfing friend before leaving Korea. She works in Seoul University Hospital around there. Take subway to Hyehwa Station, Line 4. Check out the pictures here.

2. Kim Sam Soon

Guesthouse Rakgojae (Hanok - Korean traditional house) - The house is available for rental if you want a nice stay in traditional style house. Recommended for family or group visitors because the rate is quite a bomb for a budget traveler.

Namsan tower - This place is a must. Just don't go during cloudy or rainy days and all will be perfect!

3. Iris

Gwanghamun Square - I visited here because of King Sejong not because of Lee Byung Hun (sorry Yani, I'm just not a fan of him), although Iris drama depicts the place spectacularly. Just step out of Gwanghamun Station and you could take a stroll on the huge road for King Sejong's statue, General Yi Sun Sin's statue, Haechi Madang and King Sejong's Cultural Center.

Check out my story on Gwanghamun.

4. You're Beautiful

Myeongdong, Myeongdong Cathedral where Go Mi Nam and Kang Shin Woo supposed to meet.
Tips for shopping in Myeongdong is here. Avoid public holiday at all cost if you want to shop in Myeongdong. It was jam-packed during Christmas 2009 when I visited Myeongdong. Pictures here.

Chandeokgung Palace - I have visited the palace in September but try to come in autumn/spring. Entrance fee is only 3,000 won and for free English tour, please be there by 11.00 am. Avoid Mondays because a lot of historical/cultural spots are closed. Just walk out from Anguk Station for about 100 meters and you will see the magnificent palace in front of you. Read my post on Chandeokgung palace here.

Korean Folk Village - It is located in Yongin and I went there when I stayed with Chi Won (Couchsurfing).
Entrance fee is 12,000 won. I love watching the performances and the place is quite huge so you may need to allocate 3-4 hours.

12. My Girl

Jeju Island - You will feel like you are in Jeju Island if you watch this drama. Most scenes in episodes 1 and 2 were filmed in Jungmun, the largest tourist complex on the island. While scenes were filmed all over the island, some major locations were Seongsan Ilchulbong, Cheonjeyeon Falls, Cheonjiyeon Falls, and Seopjikoji.

Not been there yet but I will be ^^. Initially, I thought what's the big deal? Malaysia has a string of beautiful islands too. So, I skip Jeju Island. What a big no no! Imagine an island with a shield volcano which I COULD NOT see anywhere in Malaysia. Totally different experience! This is a MUST stop for me the next time I visit Korea. Thanks to AirAsia, the dream will come true soon.

If you watch My Girl drama (recommended!), you could see the rocks near the beaches are black right? That's why Jeju Island is different. Halla san would be intriguing for anyone to come over. Loads of Korean drama were filmed in Jeju Island. We should definitely go! Check out my post for riding a scooter on Jeju Island here and how to go to Jeju Island here.

Note: Information are based on KNTO site. Check for more filming locations here.

Kim Nam Gil - Bad Guy/나쁜 남자

Since the drama has ended on 5th August in Korea, I think I should bring your attention to this unimaginably talented actor; Kim Nam Gil.

Kim Nam Gil is well known as the character Bidam in Queen Seondok (sageuk drama) but in his latest drama - Bad Guy, he is just stunning and shining! Changing his stage name from Lee Han to his real name; Kim Nam Gil was a wise move. The name Kim Nam Gil fits him perfectly.I felt a bit regret now that I have to wait for another 2 years before he could act; he is now in Army since 15th July.

His acting is superb. Period.
I don't know when and where he surfaced from but since Queen Seondok, he is been in demand. I think he left us with a masterpiece so we will crave for him more later. Every smirk, chuckle, smile, and stare were just too real to think that it was just acting.

All the actors and actresses put their best foot forward in Bad Guy drama and I wonder why the drama's rating is so disappointing? Maybe the drama genre is dark and heavy I guess. What attracte me to the drama was how smooth the transition from one plot to another. The drama was not similar as most dramas where we could predict the development of the story. It pulled me and my friends and we were glued.

Try downloading the drama from MediumQuality and the subtitle from WithS2

The drama was directed by Lee Hyung Min , the director for another awesome drama starring So Ji Sub - MISA. Although I have some grudges towards the director for making a cliché ending (just like MISA) but I  applaud him for his fine camera shot, angle and whatever that makes the drama so entertaining from the first second to the last. It seems as though I was watching a movie in one seating although the drama has 17 episodes.  That's how good the quality of the picture is. Almost like a movie.

Wait..another point for compliment; The Bad Guy/나쁜 남자 OST. Download them here.

I need another scoop of Bad Guy. ^^ So addictive!

What do you think of Bad Guy drama? Has anyone watched it?

CN Blue and Glay in my eyes

Is CNBlue a prodigy?

Honestly, I don't even know how to handle any musical instrument but like everyone I love listening to music and great songs. Most of the time, without any doubt, I would always choose talent over look. I am attracted to it when I see one with talent. Talent is synonym to pheromone for me. CNBlue gives out that exact good vibes to me when listening to them.

I have been listening to Glay since I'm 17 so when CNBlue came into picture, they made me want to hear Glay again. Out of nowhere. The similarity between CNBlue and Glay is that they gave strong live magnetic performance on stage (like every single time) and I prefer both of their live performance than the studio recorded version.

CNBlue is a fresh from the oven Kpop band in Korea and just debuted on 14th January but had their earlier indie stint in Japan around June 2009. I can't help but to compare CNBlue with my all time favourite JRock band Glay (undeniably genius), in talent but not fashion wise. This blog is everything about Korean but I had to include Glay at least in this post.

In my humble opinion,
Teru  = Yong Hwa (both of them are good singer and gives strong pull to the fan and crowd when they speak)

Hisashi (minus the voice) = Jong Hyun (has the look, but Hisashi blows me away when he plucks his guitar)

Jiro = Jung Shin (I hope Jung Shin will be as good as Jiro, cause Jiro could sing Shutter Speed and rocks with his bass guitar effortlessly)

I can't put Min Hyuk here because Glay only have guest drummers. No one in CNBlue that I could compare with Takuro. Takuro is such a genius in composing great songs.

Glay from left - Jiro, Takuro, Teru and Hisashi

CNBlue from left - Jung Shin, Jong Hyun, Yong Hwa, Min Hyuk

My all time favourite Glay song: - Summerdays (although I have so many favourites, but had to choose one)
Summerdays feels like summer everytime I listen to it.

My favourite CNBlue's song - Now or Never

My wish is for CNBlue to be a legend just like Glay. CNBlue, hwaiting!!

K-Drama: You're Beautiful - 미남이시네요

Picture: Courtesy of SBS

Resemble Hanakimi (japan's manga) and any similarity with Boys over Flower?
Hmm..but it unfolds the KPOP idol's life. If that doesn't make you interested, I don't know what else. Lee Hongki maybe? Hmmm..too much fan service in the first 2 episodes I think.

My vouch: Seriously funny if you don't take it too serious. Heheh..it's a drama anyway.

The big guns starred in this drama - Jang Geun Suk, Lee Hongki (FT Island), Park Shin Hye and a new cutie - Jung Yong Hwa. I bet Lee Hongki's fans are enough to get the highest rating for SBS.

I'm gonna watch episode 3 tonight and episode 4 tomorrow at SBS channel here. Of course..no subtitle.

Go to Mysoju.com for online streaming and Soompi forum for drooling on the pictures. Ngehehe..

Winter Sonata - Kang Jun Sang's office

I met this place by chance. As I went along the route to Namsan Tower from Yaksu station, I saw a big banner of Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji Woo. Hmm..I was curious though I really hate that Yoo Jin's character. Can she stop crying for one second? Hahaha..no offense to die hard fans of Winter Sonata. Just that I feel the crying scene is too much for my heart to handle.

If you want to go here, get out from exit 8 and follow the main road until you see Shilla Hotel on your left. You can't miss it. The banner is gigantic!!

So, please replay your Winter Sonata drama now! Hahaha..

City Hall - I just heart Kim Sun Ah!

She's freaking funny! I love Korean comedy, I do. Punishing my eyes until 3am just to finish the City Hall series. My verdict: Forget about the soapy plot aside, the actors and actresses in the drama were completely engrossed in their act. They were awesome!! Frankly, I just hate anything to do with politics but this drama just uniquely different because Kim Sun Ah is in it! I just heart her especially in My lovely Kim Sam Soon. She was downright funny and refreshing. I totally recommend City Hall, if you love comedy.

Hallyu and Kpop : Silence Tourism Machine for South Korea

I can't deny the fact that one of the influences for Korean madness comes from Hallyu and Kpop. According to Wikipedia: "The Korean wave or Korea fever[1] refers to the surge of popularity of South Korean culture around the world since the 21st century, especially among the Millennial Generation. While popular throughout the Asian continent, its influence is strongest in East Asia, especially dominant in China, Japan and Southeast Asia, spreading to India,[2] the Middle East,[3] Central Asia,[4] Iran,[5] Israel,[6] Turkey[7] and Russia.[8]"

Without realizing it, Hallyu or Korean wave has become a silent tourism machine from South Korea. Most of my friends would at least know one of the singers/actors/actress/groups from the entertainment. Since Malaysia only has one channel KBS from Astro, so basically that would be the main source. Otherwise, internet has become the main point connecting us nearer to others culture and either way it is as if I'm staying in Seoul even though I'm not. You gain latest updated news of your favourite Hallyu artist on your fingertips. I check them mostly from Youtube.

These are among my top 5 favourite singers based on talent (especially not looks..hehe):
1. G-dragon from Big Bang (* Not really a singer, I just like him cause he's a genius!)
2. Kim Hee Chul from Super Junior (He's just crazy, crazy, crazy and wicked! hehe..)

3. Epik High
4. FTTS - Fly to the sky (duo consisting of Brian and Hwanhee
5. Hwayobi, Gummy, Ji sun - ex-singer of Loveholic and Lynn

My 5 top favourite drama:
1. My name is Kim Sam Soon
2. My attic cat
3. Thank you
4. I'm sorry I love you
5. Full house

My 5 top favourite movie:
1. The art of fighting
2. My Sassy Girl
3. A moment to remember
4. Wolves temptation
5. My tutor friend
