Never accept room if the clerk calls your name or room number out loud.

While at the front desk, take the hotel's business card (which is the name, address, and phone number) and store card. When entering the room, make sure the doors have a place to peek and chain latch (deadbolt). If no, do not ever open the door for people who do not know.
