Wat Thammikarat is a working wat, but also contains the ruins of a large chedi and a huge wiharn which has a large tree growing picturesquely out of the side of one wall. It is a temple in the Mahanikaya Sect, Wat Thammikarat was formerly known as Wat Mukkharat. When King Sainamphueng had Wat Phananchoeng constructed before the establishment of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, King Thammikarat – his son, had this temple constructed in an old town called Sangkhaburi. The temple had successively been restored by later kings. In the reign of King Songtham (1610 A.D.), the temple was renovated and a Wihan Luang constructed for sermon hearing. The Wihan Luang once enshrined an enormous bronze head of the Buddha of the U Thong period, now exhibited at the Chao Sam Phraya National Museum. The temple also houses a Reclining Buddha hall called Wihan Phra Phutthasaiyat built by his queen consort following her wish made for her daughter’s recovery from an ailment. The Wihan is located to the north of Phra Chedi with a base of 52 surrounding Singha or lions, and houses a north-facing reclining Buddha image measuring 12 metres in length, with both feet gilded and inlaid with glass mosaic. No entry charge.
Wat Phananchoeng is (on the Bang Pa-in Rd, about 1.5km out of town) is a working wat which contains the oldest large cast bronze Buddha image in Ayutthaya, though it was covered in scaffold in June 2006 for refurbishment. There is a small room to the right of the main hall which contains a nice collection of Buddha images and the room is painted with many individual unique pictures, in bright colours offset with gold. A 20 baht temple donation per person is asked for.
Remarkably, the 19-meter high gilded statue of Buddha in the attitude of submission of the Mara from the year 1334, which is one of the largest ancient Buddha statues in the country. She has a knee-span of 20.1 meters. It is called in Thai Luang Pho Tho (หลวง พ่อ โต), designated by the Chinese, but when Sam Pao Kong (Thai: ซำ เปา ก ง). He is regarded as the protector of trade and seafaring. It is also the legend, Luang Pho Tho shortly before the destruction of Ayutthaya by the Burman "tears from her eyes to the sacred holy navel" flowed. The eastern entrance to the Viharn Luang Pho Tho can be reached via a T-shaped, roofed hall, in whose center stands a statue of Kuan Yin. This statue is highly revered by the Chinese believers. The high entrance gate to the main Viharn is flanked by long tables, where golden Chinese characters are displayed on a red background.
North and south are attached to the T-shaped hall, two smaller Viharn. In the southern Viharn there are three statues of Buddha in Sukhothai-style, one is made of gold ( "พระทอง"), one from Nak (พระ นา ก), a Thai copper-gold alloy, one is made of plaster. The walls are adorned with the northern Viharn strange-looking paintings depicting the offerings in the Chinese style.

Concerts and live on-stage performances, the informal atmosphere of beer gardens and light and sound shows support a theme of peace and joining hands across a multitude of cultures and races. According to the organisers, joining hands will bring people together -- lovers, friends and families -- to celebrate the hopes and destiny of a New Year. A gigantic screen will allow party goers to view the countdown celebrations in countries in the same time zone, while a giant 21 metre-high Greeting Ball Tower, with a three-metre diameter LCD orb-screen will create bursts of stunning display of light, colour, sound and movement at minute intervals over the party scene, until the countdown begins and the fireworks light up the sky.
There are two other official locations for New Year celebrations. The National Stadium, just 2 km from CentralWorld Square on the city’s Skytrain route, will be packed to capacity as residents and tourists enjoy an evening of musical concerts, variety show performances organised by GMM Grammy Records and Channel 9. TV stars will turn out to entertain the crowd, while a huge screen will show nation-wide countdown celebrations as the minutes tick by.
A more traditional Thai celebration will underscore activities at the city’s Sanam Luang, with the famed temple roofs and spires in the Grand Palace courtyards providing the backdrop. Crowds will gather on the historic spacious parade ground, facing Thammasat University, to enjoy classical dance performances, folk songs from the various provinces and musical concerts for an older generation of city residents. As the countdown celebrations get underway, firework displays along the banks of the nearby Chao Phraya River will illuminate the sky.

Gems on display in Chantaburi Home of the country’s gem mining, Chantaburi provinces highlights its gems and jewellery industry in a World Gem Show, 9 to 13 December.Gem lovers recognise Chantaburi province as a key source of quality stones and also a province rich in the skills required to craft customised jewellery.
The 6th Chantaburi World Gem Show 2009 will take place in the province from 9 to 13 December at a site right next to the provincial town’s KP Grand Hotel. Backers are: Chantaburi province; Chantaburi Provincial Administrative Organisation; Chantaburi Gem and Jewellery Trader; the Office of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Promotion and Chantaburi Tourism Association.
The objective is to promote tourism, improve knowledge of the province’s lucrative gems and jewellery business and help financial recovery in a business sector that relies heavily on tourists visiting the province. Well over 50 local gems and jewellery wholesalers and factories will join the World Gem Show. It will be held at Chantaburi Gem and Jewellery Traders Association, next to KP Grand Hotel. Visitors can shop for handicrafts at the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) pavilion, taste Chantaburi’s “Clean Food Good Taste” dishes, enjoy a mini concert, and join sightseeing tours to an old style community that occupies the town’s river banks. Situated inside Rajabhat University Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, the north-facing temple was built some time during 1688–1703 during the reign of King Phetracha on his former residence area near the main gate of the southern city wall. Its location and area plan was confined to be in the north-south direction by ancient communication routes; namely, Khlong Cha Krai Noi in the east and a royal pathway known as Thanon Maha Ratthaya or Thanon Pa Tong in the west. Unlike other temples, the king had all buildings roofed with yellow glazed tiles and the temple became known as “Wat Krabueang Khlueap” or the “glazed tile temple”. The construction took 2 years and the temple underwent a major renovation in the reign of King Borommakot, who had 3 pairs of door panels decorated with fine mother-of-pearl inlays. One pair of them is currently at Ho Phra Monthian Tham inside the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the second is at Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple), and the third was turned into cabinets and is now exhibited at the Bangkok National Museum. one good destination in Ayutthaya.

CHIANG MAI,(TNA) – Chiang Mai Zoo’s popular panda Lin Hui delivered a big surprise to her keepers and the public alike as she delivered her first baby on Wednesday. Her pregnancy had not been confirmed in the latest ultrasound test earlier this month.
Director Sopon Damnui of the Zoological Park Organisation, at a press conference in the afternoon, affirmed that the first baby panda born in Thailand was by Lin Hui.
Thailand ‘borrowed’ female panda Lin Hui and her male companion Chuang Chuang from China six years ago as ambassadors of friendship between the two countries. The pandas have ever since been on exhibition at Chiang Mai Zoo.
Artificial insemination was conducted for the panda couple on February 18. After earlier observations of Lin Hui's behaviour, officials believed she might become pregnant.
In the latest ultrasound earlier this month, zoo officials found movement inside Lin Hui's body, but they had not identified that she was pregnant.
According to the zoo official, Lin Hui delivered her baby this morning but the infant’s pandas sex was not yet identified.
Under the agreement with China, Thailand must deliver the baby panda to China after 24 months. (TNA)
The Khuean Srinagarindra National Park is located in Sri Sawat, Sai Yok and Amphur Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaguri, it's so beautiful natural features with hot springs, waterfalls, caves and island.
